The A9L16563 is a Schneider Electric Acti9 iPRD40r Type 2 surge arrester, 3-pole, rated for 460 V continuous operation (L/PE) with a 40 kA maximum discharge current.
As a Type 2 arrester per EN/IEC 61643-11, the iPRD40r is designed for the main or sub-distribution board — it handles induced surge currents from switching or indirect lightning strikes, not direct hits. The 40 kA Imax (L/PE) and 15 kA In (L/PE, N/PE) define its energy-handling capacity; the protection level Up < 1.9 kV tells you the voltage the downstream equipment sees during a surge. For IT earthing systems specifically, the 460 V Uc matches the line-to-neutral voltage in those configurations.
Panel Integration
Clip-on DIN rail mounting, 6 x 9 mm pitch (54 mm wide). Tunnel terminals accept 2.5–35 mm² on both top and bottom. The remote signalling contact (1 SD / 1 C/O) can be wired into a PLC or building management system for remote status — useful when the arrester is inside a locked panel.
