The Schneider A9L16573 is an Acti9 iPRD20r modular surge arrester — three poles, Type 2, MOV-based, rated for 400 V AC (+/- 10 %) at 50/60 Hz with a maximum continuous operating voltage of 460 V L/PE.
Mounts via clip-on to a standard DIN rail. Dimensions are 81 mm high, 54 mm wide, 69 mm deep — the 54 mm width means it occupies three 18 mm modular pitches (6 x 9 mm pitches per the spec). Tunnel-type terminals on both top and bottom accept 2.5 to 35 mm² conductors; tighten to 2.5 N·m. The white (RAL 9003) housing blends into a standard panel layout. Operating temperature range is -25 to 60 °C, storage -40 to 85 °C, with relative humidity 5 to 90 %. Rated for installation altitudes up to 2000 m.
This is a Type 2 surge arrester per EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11, designed for electrical distribution network applications in IT earthing systems. It handles a nominal discharge current of 5 kA (common mode L/PE and N/PE) and a maximum discharge current of 20 kA (common mode L/PE). The voltage protection level (Up) is <1.5 kV. Schneider specifies associated circuit breakers for backup protection: IC60N (25 A, curve C, Icu 10 kA), iC60H (25 A, curve C, Icu 15 kA), or iC60L (25 A, curve C, Icu 25 kA). The IK rating is IK03 per IEC 62262.
