The Schneider Electric A9L16576 is an Acti9 iPRD8 Type 2+3 surge arrester, a 1-pole MOV-based unit rated for 230 V AC (+/- 10%) at 50/60 Hz with a maximum continuous operating voltage of 340 V (L/PE, N/PE).
Rated for a nominal discharge current of 2.5 kA (L/PE, N/PE) and a maximum discharge current of 8 kA (L/PE) — that's the surge it can safely divert in a lightning or switching transient. The open-circuit voltage (Uoc) is 10 kV for Type 3 common mode L/PE, and the voltage protection level (Up) stays under 1 kV for Type 3 L/PE, meaning sensitive downstream electronics see a clamped surge well within typical equipment withstand limits. As a Type 2 + 3 arrester, it handles both main distribution board surges (Type 2, 8/20 µs wave) and fine protection at the sub-distribution or equipment level (Type 3, combined wave). The MOV technology gives fast response with no follow current. The unit is certified to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11, carries KEMA-KEUR, OVE, and NF quality marks, and has an IK03 impact rating per IEC 62262 — enough for standard panel environments. Operating temperature range is -25 to 60 °C, storage -40 to 85 °C, with 5-90% relative humidity and a 2000 m altitude limit.
Clip-on DIN rail mounting, 18 mm wide, 81 mm high, 69 mm deep. Tunnel-type terminals top and bottom accept 2.5 to 35 mm² conductors; tightening torque is 2.5 N·m. The white (RAL 9003) housing fits standard Acti9 enclosures.
