The Schneider Electric A9L16691 is a Type 2 surge arrester cartridge from the Acti9 series, designated C neutral-340. It plugs into an iPRD base and protects TN or TT earthing systems on a 230 V AC 50 Hz network. Rated for a nominal discharge current of 20 kA and a maximum discharge current of 65 kA, with a voltage protection level below 1.4 kV. Response time is under 100 ns. The maximum continuous operating voltage is 260 V, so it sits on a 230 V line with headroom for normal swells without degrading the GDT element.
The cartridge measures 18 mm wide, 50 mm high, and 60 mm deep. It snaps into the iPRD base, which itself mounts on a DIN rail inside the distribution panel. Altitude limit is 2000 m.
Standards and signalling
Compliant with IEC 61643-1 and EN 61643-11, the standards governing low-voltage surge protective devices. A local flag indicator shows white when the cartridge is good, red when it needs replacement. Relative humidity range is 5 to 90 %, non-condensing.
