The Schneider Electric A9L16692 is a Type 2 surge arrester cartridge from the Acti9 range, designed for the iPRD-DC base unit. It's rated for 1000 V DC systems with a maximum discharge current of 40 kA and a nominal discharge current of 15 kA, clamping surges to under 2 kV (type 2 protection level). Response time is under 25 ns, which means it catches fast-rising transients before they propagate into downstream DC equipment — critical for photovoltaic arrays and battery banks where a delayed clamp lets voltage spikes through to inverter DC links. The white/red flag gives local visual indication of end-of-life; when the MOV degrades past safe limits, the flag trips to red and the cartridge disconnects from the line.
The cartridge mounts into the iPRD-DC base (sold separately), which clips onto a standard DIN rail. The 18 mm width means it takes up one modular space — plan for that in your panel layout if you're retrofitting into an existing SPD bank. Compliance to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-1 covers the Type 2 testing for the European and international markets. The PBT housing is rated for the expected thermal and UV exposure in indoor DC combiner boxes.
