Type 1+2 SPD Cartridge for Acti9 iPRD1 Base
The Schneider Electric A9L1C600 is a Type 1+2 surge arrester cartridge (GDT technology) for the Acti9 iPRD1 C25r 3P+N base unit, covering L-N protection mode without an integrated fuse. It handles a nominal discharge current (In) of 25 kA per differential mode (L/N) and a maximum discharge current (Imax) of 65 kA, with an impulse current (Iimp) of 25 kA (12.5 A·s) — meaning it can absorb direct lightning strikes (Type 1) and also clamp switching surges (Type 2) in a single 18 mm-wide cartridge. The protection level (Up) stays under 1.5 kV differential mode, which keeps downstream equipment within typical impulse-withstand margins for 240 V AC circuits.
The 25 kA In and 50 kA short-circuit withstand (Iff 50 kA follow current) tell you this cartridge is sized for main distribution panels where the prospective fault current is high — not a sub-panel with a 10 kA SCCR rating. The TOV withstand of 442 V L/N for 120 minutes means it survives temporary overvoltages on a weak neutral without failing short, which is critical on TT or TN-S earthing systems (explicitly listed as compatible). Response time under 100 ns is fast enough to clip a surge before it propagates past the SPD into sensitive electronics.
The cartridge is certified to IEC 61643-11:2011 and EN 61643-11:2012 / 2018/A11, with VDE quality label. Operating altitude is 0–2000 m, ambient storage temperature -40 to 85 °C, relative humidity 5–95 %. The IP20 rating means it is finger-safe once installed inside an enclosure — not for outdoor exposed mounting.
