The A9L65101: The Type 2 classification (per EN 61643-11:2012 and IEC 61643-11:2011) means this unit is designed for installation on sub-distribution boards to clamp induced surge voltages from switching or indirect lightning strikes — it is not a primary service entrance protector (Type 1). With a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc of 350 V (L/PE and N/PE), it is compatible with 230/400 V TN and IT networks where the line-to-neutral voltage stays under 350 V. The temporary overvoltage (Ut) withstand of 337 V L/N for 5 seconds and safe failure mode at 1200 V N/PE for 200 ms gives the coordination engineer a defined failure characteristic to design selectivity around. The protection level Up is stated as <1.5 kV (common mode L/PE). That is the voltage the arrester lets through to the protected equipment during a discharge event. For downstream equipment with a rated impulse withstand (Uimp) of 2.5 kV or higher, this provides adequate margin. The 1 SD (1 C/O) remote signalling contact (0.25 A/250 V AC) allows the panel to report a failed cartridge to a PLC or building management system — useful for sites where the arrester is in a locked or inaccessible distribution board.
The unit clips onto a DIN rail (EN 60715). Its footprint is 18 mm wide (1 module width) by 85 mm high by 69 mm deep, occupying two 9 mm pitches. The tunnel-type terminals on both top and bottom accept 2.5 to 35 mm² conductors; tightening torque is 2.5 N·m. For a distribution board already populated with Acti9 MCBs, the iPRD65r shares the same form factor and can be mounted directly adjacent, keeping the busbar arrangement clean.
