Type 2 SPD cartridge for IT networks
The Schneider Electric A9L65122 is a Type 2 surge protection cartridge from the Acti9 range, designated C65-460. It is a plug-in MOV-based cartridge designed for use in the iPRD65r SPD base module, protecting electrical distribution networks against transient overvoltages. Rated for a maximum discharge current of 65 kA and a nominal discharge current of 20 kA, it clamps surges to a voltage protection level below 2 kV, with a response time under 25 ns. This cartridge is configured for IT earthing systems. The 460 V Uc rating ensures the MOV does not degrade during a phase-to-ground fault on an IT system.
The cartridge measures 18 mm wide, 60 mm deep, and 60 mm high, occupying two 9 mm pitch positions on the DIN rail when installed in the iPRD65r base. The plug-in mounting allows replacement without disturbing the base wiring — a time-saver during panel retrofits or after a surge event that has exhausted the MOV. The white RAL 9003 housing is PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), rated IP20 on the front face. A local status flag shows white (serviceable) or red (end of life), giving a visual check without opening the panel door. Relative humidity tolerance is 5...90 %, and the unit is rated for installation altitudes up to 2000 m.
