The Schneider Electric A9N19681 is a DPN N Vigi residual-current circuit breaker (RCBO) from the Acti9 range, combining overcurrent protection and earth-leakage detection in a single 1P+N module. The 6 A rated current with a C-curve magnetic trip (5–10 × In) means it is sized for lighting circuits, small motorised loads, or general-purpose socket outlets where inrush currents up to 10× the rating are expected — a C-curve holds through the start-up surge of a small fan or pump without nuisance tripping, provided the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation does not exceed 6 kA. The 300 mA Type AC earth-leakage protection is voltage-independent, meaning the residual current detection operates without an auxiliary supply — it will still trip on a line-to-earth fault even if the neutral is lost upstream. Type AC detection responds to sinusoidal alternating residual currents; for a distribution board feeding general-purpose socket outlets and lighting in a commercial or light-industrial outgoer position, this is the standard choice. The instantaneous time delay (no intentional delay) ensures the RCBO clears earth faults within the IEC 61009 waveform cycle, provided the fault current exceeds 300 mA. In a typical UK or EU distribution board with a 100 A upstream fuse or a 63 A MCB, the available fault current at the outgoer is usually well below 6 kA — but if the RCBO sits close to a large transformer (say, within 10 m of a 630 kVA unit), coordination with the upstream device must be verified to keep the let-through energy within the RCBO's rating.
Integration notes
The toggle switch provides ON/OFF indication and manual isolation. Operating altitude is limited to 2000 m; above that, dielectric withstand and breaking capacity derate.
