The Schneider Electric A9R01440 is a 4-pole Acti9 iID residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) rated at 40 A with 30 mA earth-leakage sensitivity.
Rated operational voltage is 380...415 V AC, 50/60 Hz — this is a three-phase (3P+N) RCCB for standard European low-voltage distribution. Breaking and making capacity is 1500 A (Idm and Im). For installations with higher available fault current, upstream overcurrent protection (MCB or fuse) must limit the let-through energy. The residual current tripping technology is voltage-independent — the device does not require an external power supply to detect a ground fault and trip. This is a safety advantage: even if the neutral is lost upstream, the RCCB still provides earth-leakage protection. Tripping is instantaneous (no intentional time delay), so it is suited for circuits where rapid disconnection is required, but selectivity with downstream RCCBs must be considered. The device is rated for 15000 electrical cycles under AC-1 (resistive load) and 20000 mechanical cycles. That is a solid endurance for a distribution RCCB — it will outlast most panel refurbishment cycles.
IP20 on the terminals (finger-safe when wired), IP40 on the modular enclosure — suitable for clean, dry indoor panels.
The 8/20 µs impulse withstand rating of 250 A confirms it can ride through typical lightning-induced surge currents without nuisance tripping.
