The Schneider A9S70640 is an Acti9 iSW-NA switch-disconnector, 1P+N, rated 40 A at 230/240 V AC. It's rated IP20, so it's for inside an enclosure, not out in the weather. Rated impulse withstand voltage is 6 kV, and it can handle a short-time withstand current of 800 A for 1 second. Short-circuit making capacity is 5 kA as a standalone switch-disconnector. That's the fault-handling capability — enough for most distribution panels downstream of a bigger breaker.
But the AC-22A category is the real spec that matters — it tells you the load type it's tested for: mixed resistive and inductive, up to 40 A. That covers most panel loads: contactors, small motor starters, lighting banks, heaters. Don't use it for pure motor switching above its rating; that's AC-23 duty. That's a solid connection for the current rating — no undersized lugs here. Temperature range is -35 to 70 °C operating, -40 to 85 °C storage. Tropicalisation class 2 means it's treated for humid environments up to 95% RH at 55 °C.
