The Schneider Electric A9TAB1240 is an arc fault detection add-on block from the Acti9 ARC iC60 range, rated 40 A at 230 V AC on a 50 Hz network. It clips onto the left side of a compatible MCB (neutral left) and signals arc faults via a local LED — ON, OFF, and fault trip indication are all visible through the front bezel. This is a 2-pole device (2P) built to EN/IEC 62606, the arc fault detection device standard. The threshold tripping voltage is 275 V ±5 V, and the rated impulse withstand voltage is 4 kV per that same standard.
Clip-on mounting to DIN rail, same footprint as the iC60 MCB family. The block is 54 mm wide (2 x 9 mm pitches) and 73 mm deep, so it takes two module spaces on the rail. Wire-in via tunnel terminals: 1 to 10 mm² flexible or 1 to 16 mm² rigid, stripped 14 mm, torqued to 2 N·m. Tropicalisation severity B per IEC 60068-2-30 for 28 days means it handles humidity without condensation issues in non-air-conditioned enclosures.
Durability and signalling
Rated for 10,000 electrical cycles at 230 V AC and 20,000 mechanical cycles. The block logs fault events with date and time stamps and carries maintenance indicators — useful for tracking recurring arc faults on a circuit without adding a separate logger.
