The Schneider Electric A9TAB2240 is an active arc fault detection add-on block from the Acti9 ARC iC60 range. It clips onto the side of a compatible Acti9 MCB (iC60 series) via the clip-on mounting, adding arc-fault, overvoltage, and earth leakage event management to the outgoing circuit. Rated at 40 A and 2 poles, it operates on a 230 V AC, 50 Hz network and conforms to EN/IEC 62606 — the standard for arc fault detection devices (AFDDs).
The 40 A rated current ([In]) sets the maximum continuous load this block can monitor and protect. It is sized for final subcircuits — outgoer position — not incoming mains. The 230 V AC rated operational voltage (Ue) matches standard single-phase residential and light commercial supplies. The threshold tripping voltage of 275 V (+/- 5 V) means it triggers an overvoltage event when line voltage exceeds that level, protecting downstream loads from sustained overvoltage conditions. Accuracy on voltage and current is +/- 2 %, power +/- 5 % — sufficient for energy monitoring and fault diagnostics, not for revenue-grade metering.
Installation and integration notes
Clip-on mounting to the iC60 MCB; the add-on block connects electrically to the MCB via screws. Neutral is on the left. Terminals accept 1 to 10 mm² flexible or 1 to 16 mm² rigid wire. Wire stripping length is 14 mm. The block is IP20 — suitable for dry indoor panels only, not washdown or outdoor locations. Pollution degree 2 (non-conductive pollution only, occasional condensation). Rated for tropicalised environments: severity B per IEC 60068-2-30 for 28 days. Local signalling includes ON/OFF status, fault trip LED, and arc fault diagnostic LED.
Carries IMQ quality label. Overvoltage category III. Pollution degree 2. Electrical durability: 10,000 cycles at 230 V AC per IEC 62606; mechanical durability: 20,000 cycles. Compatible with EcoStruxure Panel Server concentrators (Entry, Advanced, Universal) for remote monitoring and data recording.
