The Schneider Electric A9V16440 is an Acti9 Vigi iC60 add-on residual current device block — a 4-pole, 40 A, 500 mA sensitivity Type AC unit that clips onto the outgoing side of an iC60 MCB to provide earth-leakage protection in a single-module width. It is voltage-independent, meaning the residual current tripping mechanism operates without needing a separate power supply, and it carries an instantaneous trip characteristic. The part is now classified as obsolete by the manufacturer.
The 40 A rated current (In) matches the iC60 MCB it attaches to. The 500 mA sensitivity is a high-threshold setting — suited for circuits where nuisance tripping from normal leakage must be avoided, rather than for personnel protection. Type AC detection responds to sinusoidal AC residual currents only.
Clip-on mounting to DIN rail, occupying 7 x 9 mm pitches (135 mm width). The block connects to the MCB via screws on the bottom terminals, which accept 1 to 35 mm² rigid cable or 1 to 25 mm² flexible with or without ferrules.
