160 kW power module for the Altivar Process Modular platform
The APM1A0C16N4RH is a power module in the Schneider Electric Altivar Process Modular range, designed for cabinet integration with synchronous or asynchronous motors up to 160 kW at 380-480 V in normal duty, or 132 kW in heavy duty. Continuous output current is 302 A at 2.5 kHz for normal duty and 250 A at 2.5 kHz for heavy duty, with a permissible temporary boost of 1.1 x In for 60 s (normal duty) or 1.5 x In for 60 s (heavy duty) — the overload ceiling that governs motor acceleration and process upset recovery.
The 302 A continuous output at 2.5 kHz switching frequency sets the thermal limit for the IGBT stage; raising the switching frequency to 8 kHz requires derating per the adjustable 2-8 kHz range, which reduces the usable current below the 302 A ceiling. Apparent power is 223 kVA at 380-480 V normal duty, 181 kVA heavy duty — the kVA figure drives transformer and cable sizing upstream, not the motor nameplate. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 with 300 m of motor cable — this means the drive is intended for industrial power networks (not residential) and suppresses conducted emissions enough to avoid nuisance tripping of upstream RCDs within that cable length. IP00 on the module itself, but the cabinet integration path supports IP21 or IP54 per IEC 61800-5-1, and UL Type 1 or Type 12 per UL 61800-5-1 — the enclosure rating is determined by the cabinet build, not the module alone.
Active production, sourced per BOM quantity
The kit includes the power module, mains unit, 48 V power supply for the fan, relay for the fan, three fuse holders, and mounting brackets with hardware — no separate ordering of sub-assemblies for the basic build.
Cabinet integration checklist — dimensions, altitude, environment
Cabinet-mount only, vertical orientation within ±10 degrees. Dimensions are 1230 mm height, 230 mm width, 510 mm depth — the height is the dominant panel-space constraint; plan for top-entry cable glands and adequate clearance above for the fan exhaust. Operating altitude up to 4800 m with current derating above 1000 m — at 2000 m expect roughly 10-15 % derating on the continuous output current; above that the derating steepens per IEC 61800-5-1. Ambient temperature range is -10 to 40 °C without derating, 40 to 50 °C with derating factor. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1 — the cabinet must maintain a clean, non-conductive environment. Chemical pollution resistance class 3C3 and dust pollution resistance class 3S3 per IEC 60721-3-3 — suitable for cement plants, chemical processing, and other harsh industrial environments where airborne contaminants are present.
CE marked and complies with IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), IEC 61000-3-12 (harmonic emissions), IEC 60721-3 (environmental classification), IEC 61508 (functional safety), and IEC 13849-1 (safety-related parts of control systems). EMC immunity includes electrostatic discharge test level 3, radiated RF field test level 3, fast transient/burst test level 4, surge test level 3, and conducted RF immunity test level 3 per the respective IEC 61000-4-x standards — the module is hardened for industrial electrical noise environments. Shock resistance is 7 gn for 11 ms per IEC 60068-2-27; vibration resistance is 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2-13 Hz and 0.5 gn at 13-200 Hz per IEC 60068-2-6 — figures that matter for transport and installation in high-vibration applications like conveyors or crushers.
