Control module for the Altivar Process drive family
The APM9A0CTLN401 is the control module for the Altivar Process Modular drive series, rated for a 380-480 V supply. It carries STO (safe torque off) certified to SIL 3, which means the drive can be safely disabled without removing power — critical for integration into safety circuits that need a controlled stop. Communication is handled over Modbus serial (RS-485, 2-wire) and Ethernet Modbus TCP, with the RJ45 ports on the remote graphic terminal included in the kit.
Supply rails and wiring
Three separate supply rails feed this module: 24 V DC (19-30 V) for the digital inputs, a regulated 10.5 V DC ±5 % for an external reference potentiometer (1-10 kOhm), and a dedicated 24 V DC (21-27 V) rail for the digital inputs and STO logic. The insulation test is 1 MOhm at 500 V DC for one minute to earth. Keep the STO supply separate from the main control supply if you need galvanic isolation for the safety loop.
Environmental and EMC profile
Rated for operation at -10 to 40 °C without derating, and up to 50 °C with derating. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1. EMC immunity meets level 3 for electrostatic discharge, radiated RF, conducted RF, and surge (1.2/50 µs - 8/20 µs), and level 4 for fast transients. The module is IP00 — intended for enclosure mounting where the cabinet provides the environmental seal.
