The Schneider APM9A0CTLY6 is the control unit for the Altivar Process Modular range, designed as the brain of an ATV900 single-drive system rated 500...690 V. It carries the STO safety function at SIL 3, so a machine builder can integrate safe torque off without an external safety relay on the power stage.

Supply and wiring

Digital inputs need 24 V DC (19...30 V). The internal supply for a reference potentiometer (1 to 10 kΩ) is 10.5 V DC ±5 %. STO and digital inputs share a separate 24 V DC rail (21...27 V). Isolation to earth is tested at 1 MΩ, 500 V DC for 1 minute. Keep the STO supply clean — a shared 24 V bus with contactors can dip below the 21 V dropout and nuisance-trip the safe-off circuit.

Communications and fieldbus

Two RJ45 ports on the remote graphic terminal: one for Ethernet/Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s, one for Modbus serial at 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s (2-wire RS-485, RTU frame, slave addresses 1...247).
