15 kW HVAC drive with integrated safety and comms
The Schneider ATH230D15N4 is a 15 kW Altivar HVAC ATH200 drive built for 3-phase 480 V fan and pump loads. It pulls 47.3 A line current at 380 V and 33.3 A at 500 V, with an apparent power rating of 28.8 kVA at 500 V — sized for a 15 kW motor on a conveyor or AHU. The output frequency goes to 0.599 kHz, and the output voltage tracks the supply rail. This is the standard version, not a coated or high-protection variant.
SIL 3 STO and multi-standard compliance
Safety level is SIL 3 per IEC 61508 and PL = e per ISO 13849-1, with STO (safe torque off) on the discrete input. This lets the drive integrate into a safety circuit without an external contactor — the STO channel is monitored by the drive logic. Markings include CULus, CE, UKCA, KC, EAC, ATEX, and RCM. It complies with IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61800-3 (environment 1 category C2 and environment 2 category C3), UL 508C, IEC 61508, and ISO 13849-1. The integrated EMC filter saves panel space on conducted emissions compliance.
Panel dimensions and mounting
Altitude derating starts at 3280 ft (1000 m): 1 % derating per 100 m above that. Pollution degree 2 environment, 5–95 % relative humidity without condensation.
Built-in BACnet and Modbus
The drive ships with a BACnet IP communication module on an option card slot, plus a 2-wire RS 485 physical interface running Modbus serial (RTU MS/TP) and BACnet MS/TP. Data rates go up to 76.8 kbit/s; addressing supports 0–247 for Modbus and 0–127 for BACnet. The RJ45 connector is the fieldbus drop. Built-in functions include fire mode, PID controller, damper control, and underload detection for broken belt — the HVAC-specific logic reduces the need for a separate building controller for simple sequences.
