The ATH630D30N4Z is a 30 kW normal-duty / 22 kW heavy-duty HVAC drive from the Altivar ATH600 series, built for fan, pump, and compressor loads in commercial building services. Line current at 380 V normal duty is 53.3 A; at 480 V heavy duty it drops to 35.8 A — the lower current at higher line voltage means the drive's thermal capacity is set by the 380 V normal-duty figure for sizing the input protection. Integrated Class C2 EMC filter means the drive meets the conducted-emission limits for the second environment (industrial) without an external filter, which simplifies panel layout and saves a DIN-rail slot. The STO (safe torque off) function is certified SIL 3 per IEC 61508 and PL e per ISO 13849-1, so it can be wired directly into a safety circuit that removes drive torque without a separate safety contactor — provided the control wiring meets the SIL 3 segregation rules.
Panel fit and fieldbus options
The drive ships with a 2-wire RS-485 physical interface supporting Modbus RTU and BACnet MS/TP at selectable baud rates up to 76.8 kbit/s — the native BACnet connectivity is what makes this an HVAC-specific variant rather than a general-purpose Altivar. Optional communication modules snap into the option-card slot for PROFINET, Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP, or BACnet IP — if the BMS backbone is Ethernet, order the appropriate card at the same time to avoid a second panel visit.
