Motor power across the voltage range
The ATS48D62YS316: Rated 30 kW at 400 V for standard-duty starts, and 22 kW at the same voltage for severe-duty applications like high-inertia loads or frequent starts. On 460 V supply it delivers 40 hp standard or 30 hp severe; at 575 V it handles 50 hp standard or 40 hp severe. The dual rating means the same unit covers a range of motor frames without oversizing for the hardest start.
AC-53A utilisation and what it means for the start profile
Rated AC-53A per IEC 60947-4-2, the standard that governs soft starters and their associated bypass contactors. AC-53A covers semiconductor motor starters with a bypass contactor — the thyristors handle the ramp-up, then the bypass closes to carry the running current without semiconductor losses. The rating confirms the unit is designed for that hybrid topology, not for continuous thyristor conduction.
Connection topology and protection suite
Wires in-line on the motor supply or in the delta loop — the six-wire delta connection halves the current through each thyristor pair, useful on larger motors where the in-line current would push the frame size up. Built-in protection covers phase failure, motor thermal overload, and starter thermal protection, so no separate overload relay is needed for most installations.
Communication and control interface
An RS485 multidrop port with Modbus protocol, selectable to 4800, 9600, or 19200 bps via an RJ45 connector — standard for PLC integration without an extra gateway. Five digital inputs (Stop, Run, LI3, LI4, PTC) and two logic outputs plus three relay outputs give enough I/O for basic start/stop, fault signalling, and motor thermal protection without a separate control module.
