Medium-voltage drive for 895 kW asynchronous motors
The ATV1200A10701010 is a Schneider Electric Altivar 1200 medium-voltage variable speed drive rated for 895 kW motor power at 1070 kVA apparent power, supplied from a 2970...3630 V AC line through a 48-pulse diode rectifier bridge. The 48-pulse rectifier topology cancels the 5th, 7th, 11th, and 13th harmonic orders at the input, reducing line-side distortion below IEEE 519-2014 thresholds without external filters — a key consideration for installations on weak grids or with sensitive co-located loads. Speed range is 20...100 % of rated motor speed, with overload capability at 1.2 In for 60 s (standard) or 1.5 In for 60 s (high overload), covering both centrifugal pump/fan starting and high-breakaway-torque conveyor applications.
Physical scale and site integration
The drive ships in a floor-standing enclosure measuring 1600 mm deep by 4260 mm wide by 2670 mm high — plan for a dedicated MV switchroom bay with front and rear access for cable entry and cooling air turnover of 23,100 m³/h through the forced-convection fans. The enclosure comprises two plinths, a phase-shifting transformer, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, a human-machine interface, and 24 power cells — each cell is a modular inverter stage that can be bypassed in the event of a fault to keep the motor running at reduced voltage. Power connections use M10 screw-type bars accepting up to 6 x 40 mm² cable per phase, with entry from the top or bottom of the cabinet. Control wiring enters separately; the control supply is 220 V AC at 3 kVA, with an optional 220 V AC/DC input.
Protection, compliance, and environmental limits
The drive carries CE marking and is designed to EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1. Dielectric strength between power terminals and earth is 28 kV AC; pollution degree is 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1. Ground fault protection is integrated into the drive. Prospective short-circuit current at the input is 31.5 kA for 150 ms — the upstream protection must coordinate with this withstand rating to avoid unnecessary tripping on transient faults. Ambient relative humidity range is 0...90 % (0...95 % optional), and the drive is rated for vibration resistance of 4.9 m/s² at 10...50 Hz.
