1296 kW medium-voltage drive with 36-pulse rectifier
The ATV1200A15506666 is a medium-voltage AC drive from the Altivar 1200 series, rated for 1296 kW motor power at 1550 kVA apparent power. Supply voltage range is 2970...3630 V — this is a medium-voltage drive, not a 480 V class unit, so the input transformer and switchgear upstream need to match that voltage class. The 36-pulse diode rectifier front end means the drive presents very low line current harmonics — typically below 5 % THD without an external filter. For a 1550 kVA load, that saves the cost of a dedicated harmonic filter cabinet and simplifies IEEE 519 compliance at the point of common coupling.

Overload profiles and protection
The drive offers two overload profiles: standard overload handles 1.2× In for 60 s and 1.5× In for 3 s; high overload handles 1.5× In for 60 s and 1.85× In for 3 s. The high overload profile is the one to specify if the motor drives a high-inertia load like a centrifuge or a crusher that needs extended torque during acceleration. Ground fault protection is built into the drive. Dielectric strength between earth and power terminals is 20 kV AC. Prospective line short-circuit current rating is 31.5 kA for 150 ms — this sets the SCCR requirement for the upstream switchgear.
I/O and control supply
The drive has 4 software-configurable analogue inputs (0...20 mA / 4...20 mA, 24 V max, 250 Ohm impedance) and 1 analogue output of the same type. Discrete inputs: 6 standard, expandable to 10. Control supply is 220 V AC at 3 kVA, with an optional 220 V AC/DC supply. The cooling fan has its own internal 380 V AC supply, with an optional external 380 V AC supply available. Electrical isolation between power and control circuits is standard for this voltage class.
