1956 kW medium-voltage drive for synchronous and asynchronous motors
The ATV1200A23403333 is a Schneider Electric Altivar 1200 medium-voltage AC drive rated for 1956 kW motor power with a supply voltage range of 2970-3630 V. It is designed for both synchronous and asynchronous motors, making it suitable for large pump, fan, compressor, and conveyor applications in heavy industry. The 18-pulse diode rectifier input stage reduces line current harmonics compared to a 6- or 12-pulse configuration, which simplifies compliance with IEEE 519 harmonic limits without requiring external filters in many installations.
Overload capability and load profile matching
The drive offers two overload profiles: standard overload at 1.2 In for 60 s and 1.5 In for 3 s, and high overload at 1.5 In for 60 s and 1.85 In for 3 s. This allows matching the drive to the load's duty cycle — standard overload for variable-torque loads like centrifugal pumps and fans, high overload for constant-torque loads like conveyors or extruders that need higher starting torque. The prospective line short-circuit current is rated at 31.5 kA for 150 ms, which defines the upstream protection coordination and the fault-withstand capability of the drive's input section. Dielectric strength between earth and power terminals is 10 kV AC, confirming the medium-voltage isolation design for the 3 kV class supply.
Physical construction and site planning
The drive is supplied in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for the transformer and power cells. Dimensions are 2670 mm high, 4560 mm wide (standard efficiency) or 4860 mm wide (high efficiency), and 1700 mm deep (high efficiency) or 1600 mm deep (standard efficiency). The enclosure colour is grey RAL 7032. Cooling is forced convection with a volume of 23,100 m³/h for both efficiency variants. The noise level is 80 dB, which must be considered for indoor installation near personnel. The operating altitude range is 1000-2000 m with a current derating of 0.6% per 100 m above 1000 m. Pollution degree 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1 applies, and the operating position is vertical ±10 degrees.
The drive carries CE marking and complies with EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1. An integrated EMC filter is included. The lifecycle status is current production.
