Medium-voltage drive for 2+ MW motor loads
The ATV1200A26705555 is a Schneider Electric Altivar 1200 medium-voltage AC drive rated for 2232 kW motor power and 2670 kVA apparent power, designed for synchronous and asynchronous motors in the 3 kV class. Its 30-pulse diode rectifier input delivers harmonic cancellation at the line side, reducing the need for external filtering in installations sensitive to power quality.
Floor-standing enclosure and cooling architecture
Assembled in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for power and control sections, the drive measures 2820 mm in height, with width and depth depending on efficiency variant: 4660 mm wide and 1600 mm deep for standard efficiency, or 4960 mm wide and 1700 mm deep for high efficiency. Forced convection cooling moves 43200 m³/h of air through the cabinet, with the internal cooling fan supplied at 380 V AC and an optional external supply available. The drive is designed for vertical installation within ±10 degrees and requires derating above 1000 m altitude at 0.6% per additional 100 m.
Power architecture and overload capability
The input section uses a 30-pulse diode rectifier bridge, drawing 280 A line current from a 2970...3630 V supply, with a prospective short-circuit rating of 31.5 kA for 150 ms. Output voltage is limited to the supply voltage level, and the drive provides ground fault protection integrated into the power section. Overload capability is defined by two profiles: standard overload handles 1.2× rated current for 60 s and 1.5× for 3 s; high overload handles 1.5× for 60 s and 1.85× for 3 s, giving the commissioning engineer a choice between thermal margin and peak torque delivery. Dielectric strength is tested at 20 kV AC between earth and power terminals, with pollution degree 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1 and overvoltage category II.
Control interface and I/O complement
The drive includes 4 software-configurable analogue inputs (0...20 mA / 4...20 mA, 250 Ω impedance, 24 V max) and 1 analogue output of the same type, plus 6 discrete inputs standard with an optional expansion to 10. Electrical isolation is maintained between power and control circuits, and the control section requires an external 220 V AC supply at 3 kVA, with an optional 220 V AC/DC supply available. The product composition includes a phase-shifting transformer, 15 power cells, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, and a human-machine interface, all housed in the grey (RAL 7032) enclosure.
No direct pin-compatible alternative exists within the Altivar 1200 family — this order code is the specific configuration for the 2670 kVA, 30-pulse variant with the listed I/O and supply options.
