Medium-voltage drive for large asynchronous motors
The ATV1200A28001010 is a Schneider Electric Altivar 1200 medium-voltage drive rated for 2341 kW motor power with 2800 kVA apparent power, designed for large asynchronous motor loads in heavy industrial applications. Input is via a 48-pulse diode rectifier bridge, supplied at 2970...3630 V, drawing 200 A line current with a prospective short-circuit rating of 31.5 kA for 150 ms. The drive is built as a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows, measuring 1500 mm deep by 6870 mm wide by 2670 mm high — this is a large footprint that requires dedicated floor space and a foundation plan.
Overload and protection capabilities
Standard overload withstand: 1.2 x In for 60 seconds, 1.5 x In for 3 seconds. High overload: 1.5 x In for 60 seconds, 1.85 x In for 3 seconds — this gives flexibility for starting heavy inertia loads without oversizing the drive. Integrated ground fault protection and a dielectric strength of 28 kV AC between earth and power terminals. Pollution degree 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1, overvoltage category II. Cooling is forced convection with a volume of 26400 m³/h (standard efficiency). Noise level is 80 dB — ear protection zones are needed near the enclosure.
Composition and control interfaces
The drive comprises 2 plinths, a phase-shifting transformer, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, a human-machine interface, and 24 power cells — field-replaceable modules that simplify maintenance. Control supply is 220 V AC, 3 kVA external; cooling fan supply is 380 V AC internal. Optional external supply for control at 220 V AC/DC and for cooling fan at 380 V AC. Analogue inputs: 4 software-configurable (0...20 mA / 4...20 mA, 24 V max, 250 Ohm). Analogue output: 1 software-configurable (0...20 mA / 4...20 mA DC, 250 Ohm). Discrete inputs: 6 (10 optional).
CE marked, compliant with EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1. Electrical isolation between power and control circuits.
