Medium-voltage drive for large asynchronous motors
The ATV1200A4701010 is a Schneider Electric Altivar 1200 medium-voltage variable speed drive rated for 393 kW motor power at 470 kVA apparent power, supplied from a 2970-3630 V AC line through a 48-pulse diode rectifier bridge. It is built as a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for the power cells and transformer section, and includes an integrated EMC filter and forced convection cooling moving 19,800 m³/h of air at standard efficiency.
Overload capability and fault withstand
Standard overload rating allows 1.2× rated current for 60 seconds and 1.5× for 3 seconds; the high overload profile pushes to 1.5× for 60 seconds and 1.85× for 3 seconds — this matters for sizing the drive to a load profile that includes brief peak torque demands. The drive can withstand a prospective line short-circuit current of 31.5 kA for 150 ms, and the dielectric strength between power terminals and earth is tested at 28 kV AC.
CE marked and designed to EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1, covering electrical safety, EMC, and enclosure protection. Pollution degree 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1 and overvoltage category II — suitable for typical industrial environments with non-conductive pollution and transient overvoltages within the distribution network.
Physical layout and integration
The enclosure measures 3960 mm wide, 2670 mm high, and 1600 mm deep — a substantial footprint that requires a dedicated equipment room with adequate floor loading and overhead clearance for crane or forklift placement. Operating position is vertical within ±10 degrees, and the drive is rated for altitudes from 1000 to 2000 m with a 0.6 % current derating per 100 m above 1000 m.
