4055 kW MV drive – 48-pulse topology for line-side harmonics
The ATV1200A48501010 is a medium-voltage variable speed drive from the Altivar 1200 family, rated for 4055 kW motor power and 4850 kVA apparent power. It uses a 48-pulse diode rectifier bridge on the input, which inherently cancels low-order harmonics without external filters – a common requirement for utility compliance in high-power installations. Supply voltage range is 2970…3630 V AC, with a line current draw of 280 A. The drive is designed for asynchronous (induction) motors and includes an integrated EMC filter.
Physical footprint and enclosure
This drive ships in a floor-standing enclosure with separate airflows for power and control sections. Dimensions are 3040 mm high, 7170 mm wide, and 1600 mm deep – site access and crane lift capacity need to be confirmed before installation. Forced convection cooling moves 70000 m³/h of air. The enclosure colour is grey RAL 7032; operating position is vertical ±10 degrees.
Composition – what's inside the cabinet
The ATV1200A48501010 consists of 24 power cells, a phase-shifting transformer, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, a human-machine interface, and two plinths. The 48-pulse topology is achieved by the phase-shifting transformer feeding the cells. Lifecycle status is current production. CE marked, designed to EN/IEC 61800-3 (EMC), 61800-4 (adjustable speed drives), 61800-5-1 (electrical safety), and 60204-11 (machinery safety).
Overload capability and protection
Standard overload profile: 1.2 × In for 60 s, 1.5 × In for 3 s. High overload profile: 1.5 × In for 60 s, 1.85 × In for 3 s. Ground fault protection is built into the drive. Dielectric strength is 28 kV AC between earth and power terminals. Prospective line short-circuit withstand is 31.5 kA for 150 ms.
