3988 kW medium-voltage drive for asynchronous motors
The Schneider Electric ATV1200A53506363 is an Altivar 1200 medium-voltage variable speed drive rated for 3988 kW motor power with a supply voltage range of 2970-3630 V. It is designed for asynchronous motors and uses a 36-pulse diode rectifier bridge input stage to minimise line harmonics. The drive delivers output voltage up to the supply voltage level and provides a speed range of 20-100 %, with overload capability of 1.2 In for 60 s (standard overload) or 1.5 In for 60 s (high overload). This makes it suitable for heavy industrial loads such as pumps, fans, and compressors where starting torque and process control are critical.
Floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows
The drive is assembled in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for power and control sections, ensuring thermal isolation. Standard efficiency dimensions are 6670 mm wide, 1800 mm deep, and 2740 mm high; the high-efficiency variant adds 300 mm in width and height. Forced convection cooling moves 49800 m³/h of air, and the unit operates in a vertical position within ±10 degrees. The enclosure is grey (RAL 7032) and includes a plinth, phase-shifting transformer, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, HMI, and 18 power cells.

The drive includes integrated EMC filtering, ground fault protection, and pollution degree 2 rating per EN/IEC 61800-5-1. Prospective line short-circuit current withstand is 31.5 kA for 150 ms, and operating altitude is 1000-2000 m with 0.6 % current derating per 100 m above 1000 m.
Control and I/O for process integration
The drive provides 4 software-configurable analogue inputs (0-20 mA / 4-20 mA, 24 V max, 250 Ohm impedance) and 1 analogue output of the same type. Discrete inputs number 6 standard, expandable to 10. External control supply is 220 V AC at 3 kVA, with an optional 220 V AC/DC supply. Electrical connection uses bar-type screw terminals (M10) accepting up to 6 x 40 mm² conductors for the line input (/R, L2/S, L3/T), with entry from the bottom or top. Noise level is 80 dB, and vibration resistance is 4.9 m/s² at 10-50 Hz.
