24-pulse rectifier, 560 kVA, 468 kW — MV drive for synchronous and asynchronous motors
The ATV1200A5604242 is a medium-voltage variable speed drive from the Altivar 1200 series, rated 560 kVA apparent power and 468 kW motor power. It accepts a supply voltage of 2970...3630 V AC through a 24-pulse diode rectifier bridge, which inherently reduces line-side harmonics without external filters. The drive is assembled in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for the power cells and control section. Standard efficiency dimensions are 1400 mm depth × 2660 mm width × 2520 mm height; high-efficiency variants increase the depth to 1500 mm, width to 2960 mm, and height to 2670 mm.
System composition — transformer, cells, HMI, and cooling fans
The drive comprises 2 plinths, a phase-shifting transformer, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, a human-machine interface, and 12 power cells. This modular architecture allows field replacement of individual cells without dismantling the entire drive. Cooling is forced convection with a standard air volume of 9900 m³/h (13200 m³/h for the high-efficiency variant). The noise level at full fan speed is 80 dB.
Overload profile and protection
Standard overload capability is 1.2× In for 60 seconds and 1.5× In for 3 seconds. High overload mode extends to 1.5× In for 60 seconds and 1.85× In for 3 seconds — the latter is sized for heavy starting duty on high-inertia loads like crushers or centrifuges. Ground fault protection is built into the drive. The dielectric strength between earth and power terminals is 20 kV AC. The prospective short-circuit current rating is 31.5 kA for 150 ms.
Standards, approvals, and environmental limits
CE marked. Designed to EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3 (EMC), EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1. The integrated EMC filter meets the conducted emission limits of the standard. Relative humidity range is 0...90 % (0...95 % optional). Operating position vertical ±10 degrees.
I/O and control wiring
The drive provides 4 software-configurable analogue inputs (0...20 mA / 4...20 mA, 24 V max, 250 Ω impedance) and 1 analogue output of the same type. Discrete inputs are 6 standard, expandable to 10 optional. Control supply is 220 V AC at 3 kVA, with an optional 220 V AC/DC external supply. The cooling fan uses a separate 380 V AC supply. Electrical isolation between power and control circuits is maintained.
