Medium-voltage drive for 468 kW asynchronous motor loads
The Schneider Electric ATV1200A5606666 is an Altivar 1200 series medium-voltage AC drive rated for 468 kW motor power at 560 kVA apparent power, supplied from a 2970…3630 V line via a 36-pulse diode rectifier bridge. That multi-pulse input topology keeps line-side harmonics low enough to meet IEEE 519 without a separate filter in most installations — a real advantage when the site's utility imposes strict THD limits. The drive is built for asynchronous (induction) motors and ships in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for the power section and control compartment. The standard-efficiency variant measures 3060 mm wide × 2520 mm high × 1400 mm deep; the high-efficiency variant is slightly larger at 3360 mm wide × 2670 mm high × 1500 mm deep. Either way, the footprint demands a dedicated equipment room with a reinforced floor and a ventilation plan that moves 13,200–16,500 m³/h of cooling air.
Overload profile and fault-current rating
The overload withstand is specified for both standard and high-overload duty cycles: 1.2 × In for 60 s or 1.5 × In for 3 s under standard overload, and 1.5 × In for 60 s or 1.85 × In for 3 s under high overload. That means the drive can handle a 185 % current spike for three seconds — enough to start a loaded conveyor or crusher without tripping on the inrush. The prospective short-circuit current rating is 31.5 kA for 150 ms, which tells the site electrical engineer that the upstream protection (fuses or breaker) must be coordinated to clear within that window. The line current draw is 65 A at the rated operating point. Electrical connection is via M10 screw-type bars accepting up to 6 × 40 mm² cable per phase, with entry from the top or bottom of the enclosure. That gives the panel builder flexibility in cable routing, but the lug size and bending radius need to be checked against the actual cable spec.
