5309 kW medium-voltage VFD in a floor-standing cabinet
The ATV1200A63506060 is a medium-voltage AC drive from the Altivar 1200 series, rated for 5309 kW motor power at 6350 kVA apparent power. It accepts a supply voltage of 2970 to 3630 V AC and delivers output voltage up to the supply level. This is a large-format drive assembled in a floor-standing enclosure with separate airflows for the power section and control electronics. The cabinet footprint is substantial: 7770 mm wide, 3040 mm high, and 1800 mm deep.
30-pulse input and overload curves
The input stage uses a 30-pulse diode rectifier bridge, which significantly reduces line-side harmonics compared to 6- or 12-pulse designs. Prospective line fault current is rated at 31.5 kA for 150 ms. Overload capability is defined in two profiles: standard overload allows 1.2× rated current for 60 seconds or 1.5× for 3 seconds; high overload allows 1.5× for 60 seconds or 1.85× for 3 seconds. This lets the drive handle both normal starting duty and high-breakaway-load applications. The drive is designed for both synchronous and asynchronous motors, with a speed range of 20 to 100%.
Auxiliary supplies, cooling, and environmental limits
Control power requires an external 220 V AC supply at 3 kVA; the cooling fans run on a separate 380 V AC supply. Optional external supplies are available for both. Cooling is forced convection moving 80,000 m³/h of air. The drive is rated for operation up to 1000 m altitude without derating; above that, derate 0.6% per 100 m up to 2000 m. Operating position is vertical ±10 degrees. Relative humidity range is 0–90% (0–95% optional). Vibration resistance is 4.9 m/s² from 10 to 50 Hz. Pollution degree is 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1, and overvoltage category is II.
Compliance, isolation, and I/O count
The drive carries CE marking and complies with EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1. Electrical isolation is maintained between power and control circuits. An integrated EMC filter is included. Dielectric strength is 20 kV AC between earth and power terminals. The control section provides 4 software-configurable analogue inputs (0–20 mA / 4–20 mA, 250 Ω impedance) and 1 analogue output of the same type. There are 6 discrete inputs standard, expandable to 10.
