6019 kW medium-voltage drive with 36-pulse rectification
The Schneider Electric ATV1200A78606363 is an Altivar 1200 series AC drive rated for 6019 kW motor power at 7200 kVA apparent power, supplied from a 2970...3630 V medium-voltage line. The 36-pulse diode rectifier bridge input delivers low line-current harmonics — a key spec for installations where utility THD limits are tight or where a multi-pulse transformer is already part of the plant distribution. This is a floor-standing drive in a grey (RAL 7032) enclosure with separate air flows for the power section and control compartment. The assembly includes a phase-shifting transformer, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, an HMI, and 18 power cells — meaning it ships as a complete drive cabinet, not a bare chassis.
Overload profile and fault clearance
The drive handles 1.2× In for 60 s and 1.5× In for 3 s under standard overload; under high-overload duty it sustains 1.5× In for 60 s and 1.85× In for 3 s. That high-overload ceiling matters for applications like crushers or centrifuge loads where the breakaway torque exceeds running torque by a wide margin — the drive holds the current long enough to accelerate the load without tripping. Prospective line short-circuit current withstand is 31.5 kA for 150 ms, which sets the upstream fuse or breaker coordination window. The drive also includes ground-fault protection and a dielectric strength rating of 20 kV AC between earth and power terminals.
Control supply, cooling, and I/O
Control power requires an external 220 V AC, 3 kVA supply; the cooling fans draw from a separate 380 V AC supply. An optional external 220 V AC/DC control supply is available. Forced-convection cooling moves 100,000 m³/h (standard efficiency) — the room ventilation must handle that airflow, and the 80 dB noise level means hearing protection near the cabinet during commissioning. The drive provides 4 software-configurable analog inputs (0...20 mA / 4...20 mA, 24 V max, 250 Ω impedance) and 1 analog output of the same type. Discrete inputs number 6 standard, expandable to 10. The control terminals are electrically isolated from the power stage.
Standards, altitude derating, and compliance
The drive carries CE marking and complies with EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1. Pollution degree 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1 and overvoltage category II define the installation environment — clean, non-conductive pollution only, with transient voltages limited to mains-level. Operating altitude is 1000...2000 m with 0.6 % current derating per 100 m above 1000 m. The drive must be mounted vertically ±10°. Relative humidity range is 0...90 %, with 0...95 % optional.
