Drive rating and load profile
The ATV1200A7901010 is a medium-voltage variable-speed drive from the Altivar 1200 family, rated for 660 kW motor power at 790 kVA apparent power. The input section uses a 48-pulse diode rectifier bridge, which significantly reduces line-side harmonics compared to 6- or 12-pulse topologies. Supply voltage limits are 2970–3630 V, with an output voltage equal to or less than the supply voltage. The drive is intended for asynchronous motors and provides an integrated EMC filter. Overload capability is defined by two profiles: standard overload (1.2 x In for 60 s, 1.5 x In for 3 s) and high overload (1.5 x In for 60 s, 1.85 x In for 3 s). This dual rating lets the commissioning engineer match the drive to either constant-torque or variable-torque loads.
Physical integration and cooling
The drive is assembled in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for power and control sections. Overall dimensions are 3960 mm wide, 2670 mm high, and 1600 mm deep — this is a large-footprint unit requiring dedicated floor space and a reinforced foundation. Cooling is by forced convection, with a standard-efficiency fan moving 19 800 m³/h of air. The internal cooling fan supply is 380 V AC, and an external control supply of 220 V AC (3 kVA) is required. Noise level at full cooling is 80 dB — hearing protection is advisable in the drive room.
Compliance and isolation
CE marked and designed to EN/IEC 60204-11, EN/IEC 60529, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-4, and EN/IEC 61800-5-1. Electrical isolation between power and control circuits is maintained, and the drive incorporates ground fault protection. Dielectric strength is 28 kV AC between earth and power terminals. Pollution degree 2 per EN/IEC 61800-5-1 applies, and overvoltage category II is specified. Prospective line short-circuit current withstand is 31.5 kA for 150 ms — this figure drives the upstream fuse or breaker selection for coordinated fault protection.
