22 kW, 200-240 V — what it handles
The ATV21HD22M3X is a 22 kW Altivar 21 variable-frequency drive for three-phase asynchronous motors on a 200-240 V supply — the line current at 240 V is 66.4 A, and at 200 V it draws 80.4 A, so the feeder and branch protection need to be sized for the lower-voltage end of the range. Apparent power is 33.5 kVA at 240 V, and the drive delivers a transient overtorque of 120 % for 60 s — enough to break a stalled pump or conveyor start without tripping, as long as the upstream circuit is coordinated for the inrush.
Switching frequency and derating
Switching frequency is adjustable from 6 to 16 kHz, with a derating factor required above 8 kHz — running at 16 kHz quiets the motor whine but cuts the continuous output current, so if you need full rated torque at the shaft, keep the carrier at 8 kHz or below. The drive includes an adjustable PI regulator for closed-loop process control (pressure, flow, level) and the speed accuracy is ±10 % of nominal slip from 0.2 Tn to Tn — adequate for most fan and pump applications that don't need encoder feedback.
Standards and compliance package
The ATV21HD22M3X carries CE marking and meets EN/IEC 61800-3 for EMC environments 1 and 2, categories C1 through C3, plus EN/IEC 61800-5-1 for safety — so it's accepted across most industrial installations in Europe and markets that harmonise with IEC standards. It is quoted to order against the BOM; availability and current pricing confirmed at RFQ.
Mounting and environment
Dimensions are 16.5 x 9.4 x 4.8 inches (H x W x D) — the heatsink is integral, so panel cut-out and clearance for airflow need to account for the full depth plus a bend radius for the power cables. Operating altitude is limited to 2000 m for corner-grounded distribution networks; above that, derate per the manual. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 61800-5-1 means it's suited for industrial environments with conductive dust or humidity, but not for direct washdown — IP20, no EMC filter fitted.
