15 kW VFD for pump and fan duty
The ATV21WD15N4C is a 15 kW Altivar 21 variable-frequency drive designed for asynchronous motors in HVAC pumping and fan applications. It accepts 380-480 V three-phase input and delivers a 23.2 kVA apparent power rating at 380 V. Line current draw is 28.4 A at 380 V and 22.8 A at 480 V — size the upstream protection and cabling for the higher figure if the supply voltage is on the low side.
Switching frequency and derating
The adjustable switching frequency spans 6 to 16 kHz; the 12-16 kHz band requires a derating factor. Running at 16 kHz quiets motor whine but reduces continuous output current — plan the thermal budget if the drive is in a sealed enclosure. An integrated Class B EMC filter is fitted as standard, covering conducted emissions per EN 55011 Group 1 Class B. This saves an external filter in most commercial installations.
Lifecycle and compliance
The drive carries CE marking and complies with EN/IEC 61800-3 (EMC environments 1 and 2, categories C1 through C3) and EN/IEC 61800-5-1 (safety). Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1 applies.
Building automation integration
The drive supports fieldbus options including BACnet, LonWorks, Metasys N2, and Apogee FLN via plug-in communication cards — a direct fit for BMS networks in commercial HVAC. The standard RS-485 port runs Modbus RTU at 9600 or 19200 bps, addressing up to 247 nodes. The PI regulator loop handles closed-loop control for constant-pressure or constant-flow applications.
