What this drive is and what it powers
The ATV6000C113A4242ND is a Schneider Electric Altivar Process ATV6000 AC drive rated for 900 kW normal duty and 720 kW heavy duty motor power, with a corresponding line current of 157 A normal duty and 125 A heavy duty. It uses a 24-pulse diode rectifier bridge input topology, which keeps total harmonic current distortion (THDI) below 3% per IEEE 519-1992 — that means no external harmonic filter needed for most plant distribution systems. The output stage is IGBT inverter cells with multilevel PWM, driving asynchronous, synchronous, or permanent magnet motors.
Physical footprint and enclosure
This drive ships as a floor-standing enclosure measuring 140.2 in wide by 102.4 in tall by 55.1 in deep — plan the installation pad and overhead crane access accordingly. Cable entry is at the bottom; the enclosure includes the HMI (10-inch LCD touch screen), cooling fans, power cells, phase-shifting transformer, plinth, and medium voltage arrestors as provided equipment. Forced convection cooling with a noise level of 80 dB — factor ear protection into the commissioning plan.
Power quality and losses
Power factor is 96% with apparent power rating of 1130 kVA. Power losses are 39.2 kW in normal duty and 31.4 kW in heavy duty — this heat goes into the room, so the ventilation system needs to handle it. The drive meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 (control) and C4 (power) EMC filter levels, and carries pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1.
Approvals include CULus, CE, and UKCA, with standards compliance to IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-4, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 60529, IEEE 519:1992, EN/IEC 60076, and UL 347A.
