Medium Voltage Drive for Large Motor Loads
The Schneider Electric ATV6000C388A3333NA3 is a medium voltage Altivar Process ATV6000 variable speed drive built for large induction, synchronous, and permanent magnet motors. Rated for 3100 kW normal duty and 2750 kW heavy duty, it draws 679 A line current in normal duty and 599 A in heavy duty. The 18-pulse diode rectifier bridge keeps input THDI below 3 %, conforming to IEEE 519-1992, which eliminates the need for external harmonic filters in most installations. The drive ships as a complete floor-standing enclosure measuring 5760 mm wide by 1700 mm deep by 2791 mm high, with bottom cable entry. It includes the phase-shifting transformer, power cells, cooling fans, and a 10-inch LCD touch screen HMI. Integrated EMC filters meet IEC 61800-3 category C3 on the control side and C4 on the power side.
Power Losses and Cooling
Dissipated power reaches 134.7 kW under normal duty and 119.5 kW under heavy duty. The forced-convection cooling system and integrated fan supply (400 V AC, 26 kVA) must be factored into the room HVAC and transformer sizing. The drive's 85 dB noise level may require acoustic treatment in operator-occupied areas.
Control and Communication
Two option card slots (A and B) accept fieldbus modules for PROFIBUS DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen, or EtherCAT, plus encoder interface modules. The control block provides two RJ45 ports for Ethernet IP / Modbus TCP and one RJ45 for Modbus serial. Eight programmable digital inputs (24 V DC, two configurable as 30 kHz pulse inputs) and four analog inputs (0-10 V or 0-20 mA, 12-bit) are on board.
