What this drive does and who needs it
The ATV630D75M3US is a 200-240 V three-phase input drive rated for 75 kW normal duty (100 hp) and 55 kW heavy duty (75 hp). It includes safe torque off (STO) rated SIL 3, which means this drive can go into a safety circuit without an external safety relay for the stop function — useful for a machine builder trying to clean up the panel or a field tech retrofitting a safety-rated line. Built-in communication covers Modbus serial and Ethernet Modbus TCP on the standard model; slot A accepts a family of plug-in modules (Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen, Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP). If your line uses a specific fieldbus, spec the drive without the card and order the module separately — the slot is there.
What to expect when you get it on the wall
Mounting is wall-mount, vertical ±10°, IP00 standard. If the environment calls for it, an IP21 top kit (VW3A9704) is available — keeps splash and falling debris out but still needs a proper enclosure for washdown. Cooling is forced convection at 600 m³/h; the noise level at full fan speed is 69.9 dB — noticeable in a quiet electrical room but fine on a plant floor. Eight discrete inputs with pulse capability up to 30 kHz, and an adjustable PID regulator. STO SIL3 is built in.

The 75 kW rating covers a wide range of 100 hp motors; the heavy-duty 55 kW rating gives you headroom for constant-torque or high-overload profiles. If your line needs the IP21 kit, include the VW3A9704 part number on the RFQ.
