Power ratings and duty selection
The ATV630D75N4 delivers 75 kW (100 hp) in normal duty and 55 kW (75 hp) in heavy duty at 480 V supply. The continuous output current is 145 A at 2.5 kHz switching for normal duty, derated to 106 A at 2.5 kHz for heavy duty — the heavy-duty figure governs the sizing for constant-torque loads like conveyors or extruders. Line current at 480 V normal duty is 112.7 A; at 380 V normal duty it draws 131.3 A. The heavy-duty line currents are 86.9 A at 480 V and 98.9 A at 380 V. These numbers drive the upstream breaker and cable sizing, not the motor nameplate.
Safety and standards compliance
This meets the functional-safety requirements for machine guarding without an external safety relay — the drive itself holds the SIL 3 declaration. The integrated EMC filter covers 150 m cable runs to IEC 61800-3 category C3 (second environment, industrial). For first-environment (residential) installations, the category C2 rating applies with additional external filtering. Pollution degree 2, overvoltage category III — standard for fixed-installation industrial drives. Enclosure is IP21 per IEC 60529 and UL type 1 — drip-proof, suitable for clean indoor panels. The 62.4 dB noise level from forced convection cooling means it is audible in a quiet control room; plan for enclosure acoustic treatment if the drive is in an occupied space.
Integration and fieldbus options
Wall-mount construction with vertical +/- 10° operating position. Operating altitude up to 1000 m without derating; above that, derate 1 % per 100 m to 4800 m. The 295 m³/h cooling airflow must be unobstructed — maintain the clearance specified in the installation manual around the heatsink. Slot A accepts fieldbus communication modules: Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), Ethernet Powerlink, and BACnet MS/TP. Slot A/B also accepts digital/analog I/O extension and output relay modules. The base unit includes Ethernet, Modbus serial, and Modbus TCP as standard communication ports. Eight discrete inputs, with DI7 and DI8 programmable as pulse inputs up to 30 kHz, 24 V DC, 1 MOhm impedance. The adjustable PID regulator supports closed-loop process control for pressure, flow, or level without an external controller.
