This ATV630U15N4US is a 1.5 kW normal-duty drive from Schneider's Altivar Process line, built for pumps, fans, and conveyor drives — the kind of gear that sees long running hours out here in the grease. Rated 380 to 480 V three-phase, it delivers 4 A continuous in normal duty (2.2 A in heavy duty), handling motors from 0.75 kW heavy up to 1.5 kW normal.
Mounting and cooling
Wall-mount it vertical within 10 degrees of plumb, and give it room to breathe — forced-convection fan moves 38 cubic meters of air per hour. Pollution degree 2 environment keeps the innards clean; if your panel gets dusty, plan a filter intake. Vibration rating 1.5 mm peak-to-peak up to 13 Hz, then 1 g to 200 Hz, so it'll hang on a modestly stiff panel without shaking loose. IP21 enclosure is splash-proof enough for most process halls but not wash-down. Keep it out of direct hose spray and you're fine.
Safety and communication
Built-in STO (Safe Torque Off) SIL 3 means you can drop the drive safely without pulling the mains contactor — a nice piece of mind for a line-down swap. That's a solid safety function for a drive this size. It ships with embedded Modbus TCP and Modbus serial. Need something else? Slot A takes option cards for Profibus DP, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, CANopen, Ethernet Powerlink, or BACnet. Also room for I/O or relay extension in Slot A or B. You get eight digital inputs, including two programmable as 0-30 kHz pulse inputs.
Compliance paperwork
CE marked, UL 508C listed, and carries the full IEC 61800-3 EMC categories: C2 up to 50 m of motor cable, C3 up to 150 m. Overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2. It's also TAA/BAA compliant for US federal projects. If your QC needs a declaration pack, the usual Schneider docs (RoHS, REACH, UL) are available with the order.
