What this drive delivers
This Schneider Electric ATV630U30N4US variable speed drive handles 3 kW normal-duty induction or synchronous motors on a 380-480 V three-phase supply. Heavy-duty rating steps down to 2.2 kW for constant-torque loads like conveyors or mixers. The integrated EMC filter covers cable runs up to 50 m for Category C2 (typical for first-industrial-environment) and 150 m for Category C3 (second-environment). That keeps you out of the external filter catalog for most installations. Safe Torque Off (STO) is built in at SIL 3 — no separate safety contactor needed for the usual press-to-stop or guard-interlock circuits. A single drive takes care of both motion control and the safety chain.
Communication and I/O
Standard onboard Ethernet Modbus TCP and serial Modbus. Drop a communication module into Slot A for Profibus, PROFINET, DeviceNet, or CANopen — pick the protocol your controller speaks, not the one that fits in a cramped terminal layout. Eight digital inputs are on the base board; DI7 and DI8 can be repurposed as 0-30 kHz pulse inputs for encoder-less speed feedback or flowmeter pulses. The 24 V DC sourcing is internal, so no extra power supply for the I/O rail. Regulation loop includes an adjustable PID — set it for pressure, level, or flow control without a separate controller. Tune the loop from the drive keypad or over the network.
Compliance and environmental fit
Listed under UL 508C and full IEC 61800 suite (safety, EMC, environment categories). Overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2 — rated for direct connection to the distribution panel downstream of the main breaker. TAA, BAA, and BABA compliant via the COTS clause — clears the federal procurement hurdle for US-government-funded projects without an additional compliance statement. Wall-mount, IP21 enclosure. Forced-convection cooling moves 38 m³/h of air, so check clearance above and below for free airflow. Operational from 0 to 4800 m with derating above 1000 m.
