The ATV650C11N4F is an Altivar Process drive rated 110 kW normal duty and 90 kW heavy duty, with a continuous output current of 211 A at 2.5 kHz for normal duty and 173 A for heavy duty. Supply voltage is 380-440 V, 50/60 Hz, and the drive includes an integrated disconnect switch — that's a line-isolation device built into the chassis, so the panel builder can skip an external disconnect breaker on the incoming feed, saving a DIN rail slot and a wiring step. The switch is part of the variant, not an add-on kit. The drive carries STO (Safe Torque Off) rated SIL 3 per IEC 61800-5-2. That means the safety circuit can remove torque from the motor without a separate contactor — the drive's own power stage is disabled at the gate-drive level. For a process line where an operator needs to reach into the hazard zone during a jam, STO SIL 3 satisfies the functional safety loop without adding an external safety relay.
Fieldbus, I/O, and expansion slots
Slot A accepts communication modules for PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, CANopen (three connector variants), Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP/MD-Link, BACnet MS/TP, Ethernet Powerlink, and Profibus DP V1. Slot A and slot B also accept digital/analog I/O extension modules and output relay extension modules. That means the drive can be dropped into an existing network architecture without a gateway — the slot card matches the fieldbus. Built-in Modbus serial and Ethernet Modbus TCP are standard on the base unit, so even without a slot card the drive talks to a PLC or SCADA over the most common industrial protocols. The eight discrete inputs include two (DI7, DI8) programmable as pulse inputs up to 30 kHz — useful for encoder or flowmeter feedback without an external pulse divider. The regulation loop includes an adjustable PID regulator, which means the drive can close a process loop (pressure, flow, level) directly without sending the process variable to a PLC and back. For a pump or fan application, that cuts the control cycle time and offloads the controller.
Mounting is floor-standing — this is not a DIN-rail drive. The IP00 base rating means the power section is open to the environment; an IP20 top cover kit (VW3A9705) or an IP54 enclosure is available if the drive sits in a washdown area or a dust-prone panel. The forced-convection cooling moves 720 m³/h of air, so the enclosure must have intake and exhaust vents sized for that airflow — a sealed cabinet will overheat the drive in short order. Operating temperature is -15 to 40 °C without derating, and 50 to 60 °C with derating. Above 1000 m altitude, derate 1 % per 100 m. The drive is rated for 15 gn shock for 11 ms and vibration resistance of 1 gn at 13-200 Hz. That covers most industrial floor and skid-mounted installations without a vibration-isolation base.
