160 kW process drive with integrated disconnect
The ATV650C16N4F is a floor-standing Altivar Process ATV600 drive rated for 160 kW normal duty and 132 kW heavy duty on asynchronous or synchronous motors, supplied at 380-440 V, 50/60 Hz. It delivers 302 A continuous output at 2.5 kHz switching for normal duty, 250 A for heavy duty. The integrated disconnect switch (variant feature) means this unit arrives with the line-side isolation already built in — one less component to panel-mount and wire, and a cleaner fault-isolation path for the field service tech pulling the drive for swap-out.
IP54 enclosure and cooling for floor-standing install
IP54 per IEC 60529 and IEC 61800-5-1, with forced-convection cooling moving 720 m³/h of air. The enclosure rating suits indoor installations where dust and splash are present — pump houses, water treatment, light industrial process areas — without needing a separate cabinet. Mount vertical within ±10°. Operating ambient is -15 to 40 °C without derating, up to 50 °C with derating. Altitude derating starts at 1000 m: 1 % per 100 m above that, up to 4800 m.
STO SIL 3 and EMC with 150 m cable reach
Safe Torque Off (STO) rated SIL 3 per IEC 61800-5-2 is standard — no separate safety module needed for the drive's own torque removal. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 with 150 m motor cable, and total harmonic current distortion (THDI) stays below 48 % at full load per IEC 61000-3-12. Compliance base includes IEC 60204-1, IEC 61800-2, IEC 61800-3, and IEC 61800-5-1. CE marking on the nameplate covers the EU regulatory scope. Shock rated 15 gn for 11 ms.
Fieldbus slot and I/O complement
Slot A accepts communication modules for PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), Profibus DP V1, Ethernet Powerlink, BACnet MS/TP, and Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP/MD-Link. Slot A and slot B also accept digital/analog I/O extension and output relay extension modules. Native Modbus serial and Modbus TCP are on the base unit. Eight discrete inputs are standard, with DI7 and DI8 programmable as pulse inputs up to 30 kHz. An adjustable PID regulator is built in for closed-loop process control — pressure, flow, level, temperature — without an external controller.
