Drive sizing and fieldbus fit
The Schneider Electric ATV6A0C25N6 is an Altivar Process ATV600 variable speed drive rated for 160 kW motor power at 500 V normal duty, with an integrated EMC filter compliant with IEC 61800-3 category C3 and Safe Torque Off (STO) SIL 3. The modular version comes as a complete kit including control unit, power module, mounting kit, fuses, and front cover — ready for cabinet integration. Line current draws 225 A at normal duty (500 V) and 190 A at heavy duty; prospective short-circuit current rating is 50 kA, covering most industrial distribution panels. Communication slot A accepts Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen options; the base unit includes a Modbus serial RS-485 port. The drive supports both asynchronous and synchronous motors, with adjustable switching frequency from 2 to 4.9 kHz. For panel builders, the IP rating is UL Type 1 or Type 12 when integrated into the cabinet, and forced convection cooling covers the full load range.
Mounting and environmental notes
Cabinet-mount design. Forced convection cooling — ensure adequate clearance around the power module for airflow. Vibration resistance: 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2–13 Hz, 0.5 gn at 13–200 Hz (IEC 60068-2-6). Shock resistance: 4 gn for 11 ms (IEC 60068-2-27). Ambient temperature and humidity operating range: 5–95 % RH without condensation (IEC 60068-2-3). Frequency tolerance: 50/60 Hz ±5 %. Control wiring: removable screw terminals, 0.5–1.5 mm² / AWG 20–16. Motor and line connections use M10 x 2 bars.
