Heavy-duty drive for process applications
The Schneider ATV6A0C31Q6 is a modular Altivar Process ATV600 drive rated for 315 kW normal duty at 690 V, with a corresponding line current of 316 A on normal duty and 255 A on heavy duty. Handles both synchronous and asynchronous motors, making it a fit for rolling-mill auxiliaries and process pumps. Integrated EMC filter rated for cable runs up to 300 m and category C3 per IEC 61800-3 keeps drive noise off the line — critical when the drive sits near sensitive control loops on the mill floor.
Communication and control integration
Dual-port Ethernet (Modbus TCP) and Modbus serial (2-wire RS-485, RTU) are on-board. Transmission rates up to 100 Mbit/s Ethernet and 38.4 kbit/s serial. Slot A accepts option cards for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen, or Ethernet/IP — choose based on the existing line PLC network. Control terminal block takes 0.5–1.5 mm² wire. Frequency resolution down to 0.1 Hz from the display or 0.012 Hz from analog input. Switching frequency adjustable 2–4.9 kHz with derating; set lower to keep heat out of the cabinet in high-ambient environments.
Mounting and environmental tolerance
Cabinet-mount, forced-convection cooled. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1. Vibration resistance 1.5 mm peak-to-peak up to 13 Hz, 0.5 gn 13–200 Hz — survives the floor vibration of a rolling mill without loosening connections. Shock resistance 4 gn at 11 ms. Relative humidity 5–95% non-condensing. The drive is built for the heat and dust of an industrial hall; no extra derating needed for typical mill ambient up to 40 °C (check thermal curve in the manual if you push beyond).
Modular version means the drive ships as a kit: power module, control unit, mounting hardware, power connection set with fuses, and front cover. Field-installable option cards plug into slot A or A/B for I/O relay or analog extension.
