The Schneider ATV6A0C35Q4 is an Altivar Process ATV600 drive rated at 355 kW normal duty and 280 kW heavy duty at 400 V three-phase. That puts it squarely in the mid-to-large motor range for pumps, fans, and compressors — the Process series is tuned for those load profiles, with a built-in sequence relay and configurable fault relay that speed up commissioning for a constant-torque or variable-torque application. Line current at 400 V is 611 A normal duty and 489 A heavy duty, so upstream fusing and cable sizing need to be calculated from the heavy-duty number if you're running an overload-prone application. The apparent power of 423 kVA normal duty and 339 kVA heavy duty supports sizing the incoming transformer or generator.
Supply and control wiring
The drive needs an external 24 V DC supply for the digital inputs and Safe Torque Off (STO) circuit. It also has an internal 10.5 V DC supply for a reference potentiometer (1 to 10 kOhm), and a separate 24 V DC supply for digital inputs and STO with overload and short-circuit protection. This means you must bring a dedicated 24 VDC control voltage to the drive — it doesn't derive it from the DC bus. Plan for a 24 VDC supply rated for at least 200 mA.
Safety and EMC
STO (Safe Torque Off) is integrated at SIL 3, covering both the motor and the drive itself. The drive also includes protection against overcurrent to earth, line supply overvoltage/undervoltage, phase loss, and overspeed. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 Category C3 for industrial environments, with 300 m of motor cable allowed. That's a standard industrial filter level; for a domestic/residential installation (Category C1 or C2), you'd need an external filter. The filter is built in, so you save panel space and avoid an extra component to wire.
Communications and expansion
The drive has one slot for a communication module (Slot A) that accepts Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). Slot A and Slot B can also accept digital/analog I/O extension modules or relay output extension modules. So you can add the fieldbus or extra I/O without changing the base unit. Onboard communication includes Modbus serial (RS-485) at up to 38.4 kbit/s and Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s. The Modbus RTU frame is supported. For the Ethernet port, half-duplex, full-duplex, and autonegotiation are available. The drive acts as a Modbus TCP slave by default.
Mounting, cooling, environment
The drive is a modular cabinet-mount unit. The kit includes a control unit, mechanical mounting kits, power connection set, set of fuses, and front covers. Cooling is forced convection; noise level is rated at 71 dB. Operating altitude is up to 1000 m without derating, then 1% per 100 m up to 4800 m. Pollution degree 2. The module is shock-rated at 7 g for 11 ms. Relative humidity 5 to 95% non-condensing. Standards compliance includes IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 60721-3, IEC 61508, and IEC 13849-1. CE marked.
