Drive ratings and duty selection
The ATV6A0C50Q6 is a cabinet-mount modular drive in the Altivar Process ATV600 family, rated for 500 kW normal duty and 400 kW heavy duty at 690 V. Line current at 690 V is 495 A normal duty, 401 A heavy duty, which governs upstream fuse and cable sizing. Apparent power reaches 592 kVA at 690 V normal duty. Switching frequency is adjustable from 2 to 4.9 kHz with a derating factor. Output frequency resolution is 0.1 Hz on the display and 0.012/50 Hz on the analog input.
Integrated EMC and environmental specifications
An integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for 300 m (984.3 ft) cable length, suitable for industrial second-environment installations. The drive operates in pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1 and withstands vibration of 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2–13 Hz and 0.5 g at 13–200 Hz per IEC 60068-2-6. Shock resistance is 4 g for 11 ms per IEC 60068-2-27. Cabinet integration meets UL type 1 and type 12 per UL 61800-5-1. Operating altitude is specified up to 2000 m with current derating above 1000 m.
Communications and control interface
Slot A accepts plug-in communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). The base drive includes a Modbus serial port (2-wire RS 485, RTU, 4.8–38.4 kbit/s, 1–247 addresses) and a Modbus TCP port on the control board (10/100 Mbit/s, half/full duplex, autonegotiation). Slot A/B also accepts digital/analog I/O extension or output relay extension modules. Data format on Modbus serial is 8 bits with configurable parity. No impedance polarization is used on the Modbus serial interface.
Safety and protection functions
Protection features cover thermal protection for motor and drive, motor phase break, overcurrent, short-circuit, overvoltage/undervoltage on the DC bus and line supply, line supply phase loss, overspeed, and control circuit break. Braking to standstill is by DC injection. Total harmonic current distortion (THDI) is less than 48% at full load per IEC 61000-3-12. Prospective line short-circuit current is 50 kA.
