The ATV6A0C50R4 is a modular Altivar Process ATV600 drive delivering 500 kW at 440 V in normal duty and 400 kW in heavy duty. Line current runs 771 A normal, 623 A heavy. The normal duty figure governs continuous constant-torque loads; heavy duty provides higher overload margin for cyclic or demanding applications. Integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 with 300 m of shielded cable, so many installations can skip an external filter. STO SIL 3 is built in — no option card needed for safe torque off. Standards compliance includes IEC 61800-3, -5-1, and 61000-3-12; CE marked.
Supply and I/O structure
External 24 V DC (19…30 V) powers the digital inputs. An internal supply provides 10.5 V ±5% for a reference potentiometer (1 to 10 kΩ), and a separate 24 V DC (21…27 V, <200 mA) for digital inputs and STO—with overload and short-circuit protection. Analog inputs AI1–AI3 are software-configurable for voltage (0…10 V, 30 kΩ) or current (0…20 mA/4…20 mA, 250 Ω), 12-bit resolution. DI5 and DI6 accept pulse inputs up to 30 kHz. Three relay outputs (R1–R3) are configurable for fault/sequence logic; R1 is NO/NC, R2 and R3 are NO. Electrical endurance rated 100,000 cycles.
Mounting and cooling
Cabinet mount with forced convection cooling. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1. Operating altitude up to 4800 m with 1% current derating per 100 m above 1000 m. Relative humidity 5–95% non-condensing. The modular variant ships as a kit: control unit, mounting hardware, power connection set, fuses, three 160 kW power modules, and two front covers.
Commissioning and connectivity
Slot A accepts communication modules: Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen. Ethernet port supports half/full duplex and auto-negotiation. Serial port runs Modbus RTU at 4.8–38.4 kbps. Sampling for digital inputs is 2 ms, for analog inputs 5 ms—tight enough for most process loops.
