The Schneider ATV6A0C63T6 is an Altivar Process ATV600 modular drive sized for 650 hp at 600 V normal duty or 550 hp at 600 V heavy duty, with corresponding line currents of 544 A and 464 A. It handles both synchronous and asynchronous motors, so you can standardize on one drive type across a mixed motor fleet. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for 300 m cable runs, which covers most industrial panel-to-motor distances without an external filter.
Switching frequency is adjustable from 2 to 4.9 kHz with derating; if you need to run a long motor cable or reduce audible noise, account for the current derate at the higher end. The drive includes STO (Safe Torque Off) rated SIL 3, which removes the need for a separate safety relay on many Category 3 / PL d stop circuits. Thermal protection, motor phase loss, overcurrent, and DC bus overvoltage are all handled onboard — the protection list covers the failure modes that typically take out a drive in the first year. Pollution degree 2 (IEC 61800-5-1) means it's rated for a normal factory environment; if your panel sees conductive dust or condensation, you'll need to cabinet-mount it with a higher IP enclosure.
Integration notes
Cabinet-mount only — UL Type 1 and Type 12 with cabinet integration. The kit includes the power module, control unit, mechanical mounting kit, power connection set, and a set of fuses. Forced-convection cooling means you need clearance around the heatsink; follow the mounting guide for minimum free space above and below. Altitude derating starts above 1000 m — at 2000 m expect a current reduction, so size the drive for the derated figure if your installation is at elevation. Communication options are flexible: the drive ships with a Modbus serial port (RS-485, RTU, up to 38.4 kbps) and a Modbus TCP Ethernet port (10/100 Mbit, half/full duplex). Slot A accepts a Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen module; slot A/B also takes digital/analog I/O or relay extension cards. If you're integrating into a PROFINET or EtherNet/IP plant, budget for the option card — it's not included in the base unit.
