Drive sizing and motor power
The ATV6A0M10T6 is the 1000 hp frame in the Altivar Process ATV600 modular series, sized for 600 V normal duty or 800 hp heavy duty. Apparent power reaches 866 kVA normal duty, with line current of 833 A at 600 V normal duty, 673 A heavy duty. Rated for both synchronous and asynchronous motors, with a switching frequency adjustable from 2 to 4.9 kHz — derated above the default 2.5 kHz typical for heavy duty profiles.
Protection and safety
Built-in STO (safe torque off) meets SIL 3 per IEC 61508, eliminating the need for an external safety relay in many stop circuits. Protection covers motor thermal, phase break, and overcurrent, plus drive overvoltage, undervoltage, and DC bus events. The integrated EMC filter is rated for 300 m cables (IEC 61800-3 Category C3), which covers most industrial motor runs without an add-on filter. Also includes DC injection braking for rapid standstill.
Cabinet-mount design with forced-convection cooling. Electrical connections: M10 bars for motor and line side (accepts large lugs), and removable screw terminal blocks for control wiring (0.5–1.5 mm² / AWG 20–16). Rated pollution degree 2 and vibration profile per IEC 60068-2-6. Operates at altitudes up to 2000 m (derating above 1000 m), 5–95 % RH non-condensing, and ambient temperatures within the 50/60 Hz supply tolerance of 5 %.
Communication and options
Native dual-protocol communication: Modbus serial over 2-wire RS-485 (RTU) and Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s. The Modbus serial supports 1–247 slave addresses, configurable parity, and baud rates up to 38.4 kbps. Slot A accepts optional fieldbus modules: Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), or Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP pass-through. I/O extension modules and relay output boards also fit Slot A/B.
Current production; no phase-out or last-time-buy signals. Sourced to order against RFQ. The modular construction means control unit, power module, mounting kit, and fuses ship as one kit (control unit, power module, mounting hardware, fuses, and front cover).
